President Obama has established a new interagency ‘Financial Fraud Enforcement Task Force’ with the authority to “investigate and prosecute significant financial crimes, ensure just and effective punishment for those who perpetrate financial crimes, address discrimination in the lending and financial markets and recover proceeds for victims.”
Social justice indeed.
The problem is that’s precisely what precipitated the sub-prime mortgage crisis, which precipitated the current recession.
Why are we still forcing lenders to lend money to people who quite simply do not have the means to repay the loan?
